Welcome
A message from Richard Orme
Richard Orme
Chief Executive, DAISY Consortium
Hello, I’m Richard Orme, Chief Executive of the DAISY Consortium. Too many people with disabilities are shut out of reading and education simply because published information doesn’t work for them — and that’s the problem we exist to solve.
For thirty years, the DAISY Consortium has brought together libraries, publishers, technology companies and passionate experts from around the world, developing the standards and tools behind millions of accessible books, journals and documents — read as braille, audio or large print, in any language, on any continent.
Launching the DAISY Regional Network for Africa is our next step: building that same capability, and that same community, right across this continent. If you believe reading and education should be open to everyone, regardless of disability, I hope you’ll join us.
About the event
Why this launch matters
The DAISY Consortium and DAISY South Africa invite stakeholders from across education, policy, publishing, libraries and the disability sector to the launch of the DAISY Regional Network for Africa. This pre-conference gathering brings the community together to build accessible publishing capacity and inclusive learning across the African continent.
This event precedes the ICEVI Africa Conference, held at the same venue.
