DAISY Regional Network for Africa

The organisations behind this event

The launch of the DAISY Regional Network for Africa is brought together by the DAISY Consortium and DAISY South Africa, alongside ICEVI — whose Africa Conference follows at the same venue.

Who is behind the event

DAISY Consortium

People with disabilities are too often shut out of reading and education, simply because published information doesn’t work for them. The DAISY Consortium is the not-for-profit global authority on publishing and reading for people who are blind, have low vision, or face other print disabilities — a worldwide membership with decades of experience, guided by international experts whose standards, tools and best practices are adopted by leading technology companies, publishers and library services.

The result is millions of books, journals, newspapers and documents that people can read the way that works for them — braille, audio or large print, in any language, on any continent. DAISY Consortium members and friends have opened up education and reading to millions of people with disabilities. We invite you to join the mission.

DAISY South Africa

DAISY South Africa is the South African member network of the DAISY Consortium, bringing together organisations and individuals working to expand accessible publishing and inclusive learning across the country. Shakila Maharaj and Deenadayalan Moodley represent DAISY South Africa at this event.

ICEVI

The International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI) is a global network, organised into seven regions, working toward inclusive, equitable and quality education for learners who are blind, have low vision, are deafblind, or have multiple disabilities.

ICEVI Africa hosts the 2nd ICEVI Africa Conference immediately after this event, at the same venue, building on the inaugural conference held in Nairobi in 2023.
